Goin to a trip and Schizophrenia

Ridge mean ' surfaced' or appears out of something normal/usual.

Good day everyone,

Tomorrow i'll be on to a trip to Gua Tempurung and Hospital Bahagia in Ipoh, Perak. Stay tune for some follow ups later perhaps on Saturday ( i'll be back on Friday afternoon).

How about you all? Life is ok? I hope that things will get much better day by day to you. Never give up and hold onto your dreams !

Before i end this entry , let me have a small discussion regarding Mental Illness. An example for us to talk today, no less no more and wellknown is ----- Schizophrenia.

So what is this sweet yet a bit abnormal phrase means? In simple words, Schizophrenia is a psychotic disorder (or a group of disorders) marked by severely impaired thinking, emotions, and behaviors. It IS a matter in fact, a NEUROLOGICAL Disorder.

It is caused by unknown etiology (the cause of schizophrenia is unknown !).

Some patients display specific physical abnormalities in the brain which include atrophy(decrease in size) or degeneration in some brain areas and enlargement of fluid-filled cavities/ spaces.

The symptoms are divided into 3 types:

1. Positive -

Presence of DISTINCTIVE behaviours (very obvious and easy to differentiate compared to normal human).

Schizophrenic patients may experience strange or paranoid delusions that are out of touch with reality such as the belief that others are persecuting them, or that others are controlling their minds ( UFO / Alien abduction ... being chased by a one eye monster, you know , stuffs that are abnormal and frightening) .

Schizophrenic patients may have disturbing or frightening hallucinations. The most common hallucinations are auditory, but may also be visual (can be 'something' that you can see/saw and ' things ' you can hear..... spooky !

2. Negative -

Reflect the absence of normal social and interpersonal behaviors.

Schizophrenic patients often have a reduction in their ability to experience appropriate emotions, or express their emotions.

Patients may also experience a lack of motivation, energy, and ability to experience pleasure. Schizophrenic patients often have poverty of speech, and will not speak readily with others. ' Socializing problems '.

3. Disorganized -

Schizophrenic patients may have confused thinking and speech , which makes it difficult for them to communicate effectively with others. Disorganized behaviors such as unnecessary, repetitive movements are also common.

Treatments

1. Drugs such as ANTIpsychotic drugs and ANTIdepressant. 2. Recovery and Rehabilitation (uses psychotherapy)

Alright pals, thats all for now. Take care and dont take your surroundings tooooo lightly !
